The South African government has indicated that it would like pension funds and other institutional investors to increase support of infrastructure development significantly, and also move beyond traditional listed bonds issued largely by state owned companies. With this in mind, Prescient Investment Management has launched a new fund that invests in clean energy and other infrastructure assets, which will be open to qualified investors. The fund is a joint venture between Prescient Investment Management and Evolution Africa – a brokerage and advisory firm specialising in corporate and project finance within the energy sector.
