NEW OFFSHORE LIMITS – REMOVING THE RAND-OM WALK

Prescient Asset Management   Q3 of 2023 | 12 months ago

In March 2022, following the changes to offshore limits for regulated pension funds, Prescient shifted its multi-asset funds from the previous 30% limit out to the new 45% maximum. In the time since then, we’ve seen opinion pieces from quite a few of our peers in the asset management industry – ranging from “not going to shift because of the abundant opportunities in South Africa”, to shifting, but not to the full 45% because of the underlying currency volatility it comes with (a very valid point).
